IBPS
PO 2017 Preliminary Exam Preparation tips:
Analysis of the exam: - Before
you start preparing for the IBPS PO 2017 exam, do a 360 analysis of the exam.
Understand the overall exam pattern and syllabus, the marks included in each
section and the time allotted for the exam. This will give you an idea on how
much time you need to give for each sectionalso considering your weak and
strong areas.
Time Table: -Divide
the 24 hours of each day of the 2 months accurately in between the 3 sections
included in the exam, namely, Reasoning Ability, English Language and
Mathematical reasoning. Don’t waste even a single day in these two months. Also,
one important thing to keep in mind is not to prepare for multiple exams at
this time even though the exams maybe similar to each other. Preparing for many
exams simultaneously means you will not be able to give sufficient time to any
of it and it will just put unnecessaryburden on you.
Section-wise preparation: -As
there is section-wise cutoff for each section, you need to make sure that you
not only get the required cutoff marks but also excel in all sections. Following
are the section-wise preparation tips for the IBPS PO 2017 Prelims paper:
IBPS PO Reasoning Tips
For Reasoning Ability, you need to practice a lot as it takes most of
your time for calculation. Therefore, attempt the questions in this section
with pure accuracy otherwise you will lose your time as
well will be awarded negative marks. Some important topics to prepare are Marking
series/analogy, Coding and decoding, Number series questions, Problem solving,
Comprehension reasoning and Passage & Conclusions type questions etc.
People who feel English language are their weak area need to start from
the very basics of School level. You can read newspapers daily, study basic
level English books for passage comprehension, story reading etc. Take the help
of a dictionary and learn 3-4 new words every day. Some important topics which
you can focus on are Comprehension Passage, Fill
in the Blanks, Phrase & idioms, Prepositions, Spotting Errors and Sentence
Arrangement etc.
o
IBPS PO Quantitative Aptitude Tips
The Mathematical reasoning/
Quantitative Aptitude section is considered to be the toughest section as it
deals with Mathematical problems. For this section, you need to start from the
simple topics such as number system, profit & loss, interest etc. gradually
moving on to the higher levels. Maintain a formula book for all formulas
included in the different topics and mug up these formulas religiously on a
daily basis. The important topics for this section are Sequence & series, Data
Interpretation, Number System, Ratio and Proportion, Quadratic Equations,
Percentage & Average and Simplification etc.
Study
genuine books: -Collect books and study materials which provide original
content and guidelines for problem solving. It’s advisable to stick to only 1-2
books for each subject as following many books may cause ambiguity by providing
different answers. Some books which you can refer for the IBPS PO 2017 exam

previous one. This will improve your speed and accuracy in solving problems.
Previous Question papers: - When you are
preparing for any exam, it’s important to collect previous year’s Question
papers to have an idea about the types of Questions asked. Go through Practice question papers of around 5-6 years old. There are some questions repeated over the
years, however, don’t depend completely on these question patterns as the Exam
pattern may change at any moment. Refer to these question papers just for the
purpose practice and enhancing your competency level.
Keep calm and revise: - Keep
the last few days of these two months for revising whatever you have studied.
